After the Storm Rainbow Ornament
About this pattern
This sweet rainbow makes a lovely holiday ornament for your Christmas Tree. Personalise the cloud with a name, date or sentiment using simple embroidery for a thoughtful gift or decoration. Make several and hang from a ribbon or crochet chain for a decorative garland for any time of the year!
The pattern comes with a full picture tutorial, making it suitable for adventurous beginners who have mastered the UK double crochet (US single crochet). Your purchase includes 4 files: UK terms (right and left handed versions), US terms (right and left handed versions).
You will need:
4ply/sport weight mercerised cotton yarn:
~4 m each of red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo (dark blue) and violet (purple).
~1 m of black for embroidery and hanging
~20 m of white or cream for the cloud
A 2.5 mm hook to create a dense, firm structure.
A yarn needle to sew in the ends
A small amount of toy stuffing (<2 g)
Size and using other yarn weights
Using 4 ply/sport yarn and a 2.5 mm hook the final rainbow will be ~9 cm across and 7 cm high. However you can use any yarn you like to make this rainbow, though cotton-rich yarn works best. If using another yarn weight, use as small a hook as possible to keep the fabric firm. Note the size of the ornament will change accordingly, as will the amount of yarn required.
Notes
- When displaying do not hang near a flame, heat source or lights.
