All Roads Lead Home
I designed this throw/shawl for a dear friend who was moving away to New England. The yarn colors are the school colors where we met … the lace design is reminiscent of our Virginia mountains in the summer … the overall look and theme is that no matter where she goes, we’ll always be there for her!
• This throw/shawl is knit completely in the round, starting on double-pointed needles and changing to longer and longer circs as needed
• Directions are charted (see pages 4 & 5) and written out, round-by-round. Since there are eyelets and decreases which will look odd if one stitch off, I HIGHLY recommend using the charts as it is easier to “read” your knitting.
• Stitch markers make this design easier to work – by using the safety-pin style, you can move them on the increase rounds (or every few), thus ensuring the increases are DONE each time.
• As the throw/shawl grows, a life-line becomes HIGHLY recommended as you will finish with over 400 bulky stitches to be bound off. I put a life-line in every 10-20 rnds once I have over 20 rounds completed
• All even rounds (until the garter edge) are plain knitting (resting rounds) – a good time to put in your life line
