For day to night, Summer to Winter… because poofy pleated sleeves are always a good idea. For those who love simple, seamless knits with nifty details. Sample shown is a size 2 worn on a 34” bust, and additional photos show the same sample on up to a 43” bust. This sweater works with a range of amounts of ease, so you can choose a size based on how you’d like your finished sweater to fit.

Yarn: Aran weight yarn, 987 (1073, 1127, 1183, 1238) 1340, 1414, 1464, 1534 metres, 1079 (1173, 1232, 1293, 1353) 1464, 1545, 1600, 1676 yards. Shown in Rowan Kid Classic in shade 866 ‘Bitter’ – if using this yarn you will need 8 (8, 9, 9, 9) 10, 11, 11, 11 balls.

Needles and notions: 5mm and 5.5mm circular needles, recommended lengths 24” for body, and either long DPNs or 40cm 5.5mm circular needle for sleeves. 5.5mm DPNS or long circular needle for magic loop is required only for the last row of the sleeves.
You will also need 4 stitch markers (1 for beginning of round and 3 for raglans – you may find it helpful to use different types), a tapestry needle, scrap yarn for holding stitches, and 2 spare DPNS of any size for working pleats.

Gauge: 18 stitches and 24 rows per 4” in stocking stitch (in the round) on 5.5mm needles.

Notes: This sweater is worked seamlessly from the top down, with short rows to raise the back neck and raglan shaping to form the yoke. After separating the sleeves, the body is worked without shaping until short rows are again used to lower the back hem. Both the yoke and hem feature several inches of moss stitch. Yarn is then re-joined at the sleeves, which are worked in the round on a short circular needle and feature increases to produce a Bishop sleeve shape. After introducing panels of moss stitch at the cuff, pleats are worked to gather the cuff.
