The Klee Collection

The Klee Collection is a gathering of knitting patterns close to my heart. Although I trained as an art historian, I rarely get a chance to see even a fraction of the amazing art on offer in London. A few years ago the Tate Modern held an exhibition of Paul Klee’s work, and it was like visiting an old friend. The inspiration to design my first collection came quickly, and I have named each of the designs after a painting by Klee.

Angel in the Making Shawl

The Angel in the Making Shawl is a wide triangular shawl designed to use two skeins of beautiful fingering/4 ply yarn. It begins with a garter-tab cast on and is worked in stockinette stitch until (almost) the end of the first skein. The lace border is then worked from the edges to the central mitred-diamond. Every right-side row of the lace is charted in this pattern, making it easy to cross off each row as you go and creates addictive, just-one-more-row knitting. The Angel in the Making Shawl is the accessory partner to the Angel in the Making pullover.

The shawl is designed to use 2 skeins of fingering weight/4-ply yarn. I used the WalkCollection Cosy Merino, which is a single and therefore shows the stitch pattern up beautifully.
