I’m often inspired by yarn. In this instance, I’d accidentally purchased a 4ply cotton in mustard and wasn’t quite sure what I’d do with it but knew something would pop up. While procrastinating on another pattern, inspiration hit and I just knew the mustard and rust yarns I had on hand would make the perfect little doll, and that I would call her Autumn.

Autumn is an intermediate amigurumi (crochet) pattern written in US (American) terms. The pattern includes detailed instructions in an easy to follow layout but a knowledge of basic crochet stitches and techniques used to make amigurumi is essential.

Your tension, yarn thickness and hook size used will affect the size of your finished items. My Autumn is approximately 22cm tall (8 ½ inches).

You will receive one PDF file which requires software like Adobe Reader to open (this is free to download).

You will need:

  • 2.5m hook/C-2 (US)
  • 4ply yarn/fingering > less than 50g yarn in NUDE, RUST, GREY and MUSTARD
  • BLACK 4ply yarn or embroidery thread
  • 7mm safety eyes
  • Scissors
  • Tapestry needle
  • Polyester toy stuffing
  • Stitch marker

Notes:

  • A yarn with no stretch is best for amigurumi, I ordinarily use cotton or cotton blend.
  • Amigurumi is usually stitched in the round (unless it says otherwise).
  • Generally, the hook you use for amigurumi will be a smaller than for other crochet as you want the stitches tight.
  • For this pattern, the following yarns were used: o NUDE = Bendigo Woollen Mills 4ply cotton in “816 Parchment” o RUST = Scheepjes Catona colour “388 Rust” o MUSTARD = Lincraft Cotton 4ply in colour “12863 Tangerine” o GREY = Scheepjes Catona colour “501 Anthracite”
  • I have used safety eyes for this pattern but you may embroider. Please ensure that there are no loose fittings.
