Bear Grass Flowers
Waterton(Canada)-Glacier (USA) International Peace Park in Montana contains 2000 square miles of a vast pristine ecosystem . It is the centerpiece of what has been referred to as the “Crown of the Continent Ecosystem”, a region of protected land encompassing 16,000 square miles. The tremendous range of topography in Glacier supports of rich variety of plants and wildlife. --NPS
Tall beargrass flowers and their tufts of grassy leaves are Glacier National Park’s showiest plant. With its unforgettable torch like cluster of white flowers, each plant blooms roughly once every seven years. Although not a synchronized bloom, some years are better than most, with whole slopes covered with this mountain-lily. It is the unofficial emblem of the Waterton-Glacier International Peace Park.
Knit from cuff to toe with an optional Channel Island cast on and a vintage lace pattern these socks are my interpretation of the beautiful Bear Grass flowers in bloom.
