Choice of yarn and needles

For this instruction you can use a yarn with a gauge 20-22 sts = 4 in / 10 cm in stockinette stitch. The pattern is showcased best with a “smooth” yarn, e.g. merino wool, as used here. The given amount of yarn applies, when you use a yarn with a meterage of 115 yd / 105 m pr 50 g. if you use a yarn with a shorter/longer meterage, the amount might vary. The given needle size is just my suggestion. Your choice of yarn, how loose or tight you knit, all are factors, which have to be taken into account, because they can change your gauge immensely. The pattern is rather elastic, if you decide to knit with a similar yarn given here.
