These mittens are constructed like a traditional Selbu Mitten, with a thumb gusset.
The name Blomstervanter comes from Blomster (flower) and vanter (mittens).
In most parts of Norway you would call it votter - like in Selbuvotter, but on the west coast of southern Norway, mittens are usually called vanter.

The pattern is inspired by an older knitting pattern, altered to fit the hand of a mitten, and to enhance the resemblance of a flower.

yarn: Rauma Finull/Pt2, 175m (191yd) / 50g
MC: 50 g Cream col. 401
CC: 50 g Black col. 436
needles: 2,5mm (US 11/2), DPNs or circular needle (magic-loop)
gauge: 32 sts / 40 rows = 10 cm (4inch) in stranded pattern
size: to fit average womans hand;
circumference: 20 cm
length: 27 cm.
notions: 2 stitch markers, stitch holder or waste yarn, tapestry needle

To alter the size:
Use needles 2,25 mm / US 1 to make them smaller
Use needles 2,75 mm / US 2 to make them bigger

To make a men´s size: use a DK weight yarn like Rauma 3 ply, and needles 3mm / US 2.5.
