Overlay mosaic crochet CAL

Please note, Boo was originally designed as a CAL (Crochet ALong), released in 6 weekly parts up to 13th October 2023.

The CAL has now finished and the individual parts have been removed, replaced by a single file containing the complete pattern.
There is also an additional bonus file containing charts for 2 different skeleton designs which you may add to your project if you wish.

At the start of 2023, I had no idea I would end up running 3 CALs before the end of the year … but then one of the members in my Facebook group requested a Halloween-themed one …

I generally have so many ideas brewing in my head that I can’t usually fit in custom requests, but this time the spooky ideas just wouldn’t go away, so “Boo!” was born.

Boo! is worked using the overlay mosaic crochet technique, and finished off with a simple envelope border to hide the loose ends.
Each part includes clear, marked charts and full written instructions, along with lots of helpful photos.

There are no mid-row colour changes, nor special stitches, which makes Boo! an ideal pattern for beginners to mosaic crochet.

The pattern is written for a single size (approximately 90 x 110cm), and colour packs are available for this size.

There is also additional information to help you to make a different size.
You can also adjust the length of your project by repeating your favourite parts, or skipping others… I have even created a new spooky gauge swatch for this CAL, which you can add to your
project if you wish!

If you are comfortable following charts I have also included a bonus file so you can add some skeletons to your project. Please note I only designed these after making up my sample blanket and, unlike the files for the main CAL, they are Chart only, with no written instructions.

The 48-stitch repeat also makes Boo! easy to combine with many of my other mosaic crochet designs, including Meow!, Woof!, March Hare, Woodland Trail, Flora’s Fauna and Letitia’s Garden.

If you are unfamiliar with mosaic crochet or the envelope border, don’t worry, they are much easier to do than they look, and step by step instructions are given.

To simplify the abbreviations, and avoid the need for separate UK and US versions, the pattern is written in my ’Universal’ terms (I developed these terms for the Jacquard Temperature Blanket and have also used them in Flora’s Fauna, HoHoHo, On The Seashore and Beside The Seaside).
