Boomarangle
Boomarangle is my take on the popular boomarang shawl. The simple garter stitch boomarang is interrupted by bands of triangles created using texture and eyelets. Stitch count for these bands do not change, instead the “straight” sections create an interesting curve along the normally smooth edges. The sample was made using 2 skeins of YARN IN THE BOX SILKY SOFT EWE, a blend of merino wool and silk that feels fantastic and has a wonderful drape.
This would be a good design for anyone who is ready to stretch their skills beyond the basic garter stitch boomarang. Starting with garter increase sections is almost mindless knitting. Once appropriate stitch count is reached, the 24 row triangle band offers just a bit of a challenge. This band is both fully written and charted to allow for individual preferences. Once the first band is complete, return to garter increase “mindless” knitting until you reach the next stitch count. Work another triangle band but this time work 2 repeats. Continue in this manner alternating garter and triangle bands until your yarn is almost gone or you reach your prefered size.
Size is easily adaptable. Leave off the last triangle band for a shawlette size or add as many bands as you wish. Each new band requires 26 additional stitches created in the garter section.
