This beautiful lace shawl, inspired by the wrought
iron work on the porches in the New Orleans’
French Quarter is a delightful addition to any
wardrobe. Unlike most traditional lace shawls, the
construction of the border has been modified to
create your cast on edge. This means you start with the
lace border so there is no picking up stitches at the end
and no extra ends to work in.

The shawl is one size fits all. The center top edge is shaped to fit around the neck, which means the shawl will stay in place on your shoulders with little fuss.

I used 2 skeins of Cascade Heritage Silk in Primavera (color 5659), but you can use any luscious sock yarn. You will need approximately 600 yards. One of my test knitters used 2 skeins of white Kollage Riveting Sport 100% recycled yarn from recycled blue jeans (95% cotton - 5% other). The result was quite lovely and inspired a few other knitters to use the Riveting as well.
