This hat features a side vent with elegant faux buttons. It has alternating stripes with slipped stitches cleverly used to create vertical lines as well as horizontal.
It is worked in the round.

While the sample shows 2 contrasting colors, it could also be worked in a single yarn. It would look great in a variegated yarn, or a long repeat yarn, or a lovely handspun, where the slipped stitches work to create a subtle textured variation.

The matching fingerless mitts have the same button trim.
