This blanket is based on a picture of a vintage Swedish bedspread which I found in a home style magazine and fell in love with. After scouring that picture for details of the stitch patterns and construction and some online research, I was able to piece together an idea of how this blanket might have originally been made. Blankets like this one were constructed using long panels of different traditional stitch patterns and then sewn together to create a larger piece. This pattern is a loving re-creation of the original blanket style, but with a totally modern construction method and up to date and helpful pattern instructions.
