I have created this shawl pattern as a great beginner brioche pattern. If you would like a more enhanced version of the pattern, as well as videos teaching you the techniques found in this pattern, please sign up for my online course, Mastering Brioche with Knit Graffiti! If you are already signed up for the online course, this pattern is part of the course materials!
Hue Loco has some kits available of the yarn I used in my samples!
BrioComfort Shawl mini set kits : You will need 2 complete sets for the shawl.
Skill level: Beginner Brioche friendly!!! This is a fantastic pattern to help you learn how to knit two-color brioche flat. Techniques used: knit, purl, brioche knit (brk), brioche purl (brp), Twisted German Cast On, Elastic Bind Off with brioche stitches.
Construction Notes: This shawl is knit flat from side to side in a large rectangular shape. It is divided up into 20 sections, alternating between Garter Stitch Stripes and Two-Color Brioche. You will begin with Garter Stitch Stripes, to build up a bit of your shawl and setup your first Two-Color Brioche section. When you begin the Two-Color Brioche, there will be a small bit of two-color garter stitch at either edge, to help the brioche stitches to really stand out, and to avoid any confusion as to what to do when you reach the edges. Two-color brioche knit flat is very different than knitting it in the round.
I have written the pattern out specifically for the two versions that I knit: Four skeins, and Mini skeins. Feel free to use this as more of a formula, and use as many or as few colors as you want! This pattern is also easy to modify by adding or omitting pattern repeats. I actually designed this pattern specifically for mini skeins or leftovers, making this a great stashbuster shawl!
