Crochet these incredibly warm mittens that have a wool lining made of “thrums”! These thrums are crocheted strategically into the mitten so that they provide an incredible layer of warmth and softness inside - the thrums will felt over time to become a fleece layer. These bulky mittens work up very quickly and look so adorable with the puffy hearts!

The printable PDF for purchase is a total of 14 pages including the cover page and includes: the written adult and child size patterns (child size fits my daughters ages 6 and 8), the full step-by-step photo tutorial, and detailed tutorials for: how to create your own thrums, how to work a thrum stitch, and how to work an invisible decrease with a thrum.

The pattern is written in US crochet terminology and the finished dimensions of the mittens are: 10.5”/27 cm long, 9.5”/24 cm wide (adult size) and 8”/20 cm long, 8”/20 cm wide (child size).

Adult Mittens: 120 grams/132 yds of bulky level 5 yarn (I used Hue + Me in “Desert” by Lion Brand Yarn) and 60 g of wool roving to make the thrums (I used “Fifty Fifty Yarn” from the LB Collection).

Child Mittens: 80 grams/88 yds of bulky level 5 yarn (I used Hue + Me in “Desert”and Woolspun in “Mahogany” by Lion Brand Yarn) and 40 g of wool roving to make the thrums (I used “Fifty Fifty Yarn” from the LB Collection).
