Bullion Edging and Insertion
The edging features a traditional, rolled bullion stitch shell motif. You choose the yarn or thread, depending on the item you will be using the edging on.
The insertion features a vintage double bullion stitch, also known as Russion Spoke Stitch. The design is such that you can weave a purchased ribbon down the middle of the insertion. Ribbon is optional, but looks very cool.
I designed these patterns, and used them in handouts for a workshop called “Fullof Bullion--Stitch, That Is.” I uploaded these two patterns to Ravelry for people who participated in the Crochet Guild of America’s Ask the Experts session about bullion stitch in 2021.
I love to crochet trims and such in No. 10 crochet cotton, because they look so delicate and fine. A while ago, I started using sock yarn for things I would normally use crochet cotton for. It looks so good, and it’s much easier for aging eyes to see.
