Burano
Inspired by the colorful streets of Burano, Italy, this shawl is a relaxing knit designed for maximum flexibility. The stripes are a perfect way to use up sock yarn remnants, or a great excuse to experiment with bold new color combinations. It is a good projecg for variegated yarns, or those precious yards of handspun. It is a top down, garter stitch knit, and is presented in 2 sizes, but includes notes on adjusting the overall size. You can also adjust the number of stripes worked, and of course you can use 2, 3, or 30 colors - whatever strikes your fancy.
This design could also be worked in other yarn weights, just make sure to use a needle several sizes larger than normal, to ensure a relaxed fabric. If substituting yarns, make sure to use a yarn that will hold a block well, as this shawl requires fairly aggressive blocking to lay flat.
