Cadans (the Dutch word for ‘cadence’) was inspired by the shared rhythms of walking and knitting. I’m hoping to walk the West Highland Way later this year, and my Cadans hat brings my favourite activities of walking and knitting together.

Kate Davies Designs Milarrochy Tweed (70% wool; 30% mohair; 109yds / 100m per 25g ball). 1 ball of each of the following shades:

27 sts and 30 rounds to 10cm / 4in over chevron pattern on gauge-size needle. Gauge was achieved on 3.5mm / US 4 needle.

Hat circumference (unstretched): 54cm /21in
Height from brim to crown: 23cm / 9in
Pattern notes
This hat is knitted in the round from the bottom up in a graphic chevron pattern, following a simple chart, which is worked from right to left throughout.
