Camp BFC Bandana
Grab your Rhinebeck sweater and a travel project and hop on the BFC bus to the NY Sheep & Wool Festival! This year’s Road to Rhinebeck Knit-Along with Boston Fiber Company is inspired by the creative, community vibes of childhood summer camps. Spending a few days in nature with your besties while doing arts and crafts? Sounds just like Rhinebeck! So channel your inner camp counsellor and knit up a cute bandana to show off your favorite indie-dyed yarn at all the autumn fiber festivals.
Skill Level: Advanced Beginner
Yarn
- Approx. 50–75g of any fingering or DK weight yarn, or more for a longer/wider bandana
Sample:
- Copper Corgi Savannah Sock (100% superwash Merino wool; fingering weight; 460yds / 100g). “Tea for One”. 220yds / 48g.
Needles
- Fingering: US 6 (4mm) straight or circular needles, or size to create preferred fabric
- DK: US 8 (5mm) straight or circular needles, or size to create preferred fabric
Notions
- Yarn needle
Gauge
- Fingering: 27 sts and 60 rows = 4” / 10cm over linen stitch pattern, blocked
- DK: 22 sts and 36 rows = 4” / 10cm over linen stitch pattern, blocked
- Note: These gauges are suggestions; because the pattern starts at the bottom of the triangle and is increased until the desired size, you can use any weight of yarn and needle combination that gives the desired fabric density
Finished Measurement
- One Size
- Length: 27” / 68cm
- Width at widest point: 10” / 25cm
Pattern Notes
This triangle bandana is knit from the bottom up in linen stitch, a beautiful pattern to showcase a variegated yarn. It can easily be knit to a larger or smaller size by continuing (or not) the repeat, or using a different yarn weight. This bandana works great as a neck tie, mini scarf, or headband!
