INTRO
Skirt “Carmen” was inspired by the style and look of the famous Gipsy, Carmen, from Georges Bizet’s popular opera of the same name. Tight fitting, curve flattering line and a double ruffle at the bottom is exactly what gives it that dash of Gipsy-Spanish sexy look.

DIFFICULTY LEVEL, SKILLS, TECHNIQUES
To make this skirt you will need basic knowledge of crocheting skills with an additional front post double crochet stitch which might be a challenge for beginner crocheters.

Dark red (or any color of your choice) – “Helena Unitas” for 3 – 3.5mm hook

ABOUT THE PATTERN
The skirt is crocheted top down in dc stitch, and it has a double ruffle at the bottom. The waist is just a little narrower than the hip area so that the skirt can be put on over the widest part of the body since it has no zipper or other opening. To fit the waist measurement the skirt has a cord inserted inside the waist band.

The finished measurements of the skirt given above are about 5cm/2in smaller than standard sizes. This is because crocheted items stretch significantly when worn. The idea behind this piece is that it fits tightly around your waist and hips, hence the smaller dimensions than the standard ones.

IMPORTANT: Being very long and quite heavy, this skirt will stretch not only in width but in length as well after wearing it. Therefore, make sure you make it about 10cm/4in shorter than you want it to be.
