I like this pattern as a starter for teaching yourself double knitting. It’s worked in the round so you’re always reading the chart from right to left, and the 40 stitch repeat makes for good stopping points to go back and check your work.
It takes 2 skeins of each color in Malabrigo rios, or approximately 400 yards of each. I used “Black” for my main color and “Teal Feather” for my Contrasting color. Since it’s a reversible pattern, the only difference between the MC and CC is that the cast on and bind off edges will be in your MC.
