Celebration Jubilee Shawl
Celebration Jubilee Shawl
This Shawl was inspired to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. Although one size it could of course be made shorter if desired.
I wanted to produce something that I thought could be enjoyed by a wide range of ages, on a variety of occasions, and something that the Queen might like herself. A shawl was the perfect choice.
Pink (Tourmaline) was a popular favourite for Blacker Yarns, and I love it too. It is a colour which has been worn by the Queen many times throughout her long reign. I really love this fashionable dusky pink which compliments many other colours and will add warmth when worn with casual pastels, or when you dress up for a more formal event. The yarn we have chosen is something light and summery - a lightweight 4-ply yarn, with 50% Linen.
The subtle blush colour of the scarf commanded an elegant design, with a delicate border. The pattern has been developed using the Branching Lace Stitch, which is a good introduction to lace knitting. The shawl can be worn in a number of different ways for a chic and dignified look.
As I have said in the pattern, always do your Tension Square and adjust as stated, if need be.
Yarn: For the best results, I have recommend the really beautiful Blacker Yarns ‘Lyonesse’ Pure Wool and 50% Linen yarn
Breed: Falkland Island Corriedale/Merino Wool
Ball/Skein Length: c.50g c.175m (c.190yds)
Finish (Woollen or Worsted): Worsted
Handle: Fine
Blacker Yarns specialise in breed specific British Wool yarn all spun and processed in Cornwall and consist of 100% natural fibres.
The pattern could be knitted with other 4-ply wool, but do your test square first to ensure you are going to have enough yarn.
The pattern uses:
- 250g of 4-ply yarn (50% Wool & 50% Linen)
- You will also need 8 stitch markers and a wool needle to sew together
