Changeover II
Changeover II is the second pattern in my ebook “Shawls for Every Season”.
A total of 9 versions of the 4 patterns in the book make up the ebook as follows:
Changeover I – 2 versions, symmetrical and asymmetrical
Changeover II - 3 versions, small symmetrical, medium asymmetrical and large symmetrical.
Changeover III – 1 version
Changeover IV – 3 versions, symmetrical, asymmetrical and symmetrical
Based on Changeover I, a 2-version shawl Changeover II, besides changing over stripes, triangles, technique, shape and size, changes over to lace bands in between garter bands making it ideal for a changeover of season. The difference also is that this pattern is a smaller asymmetrical shawl to begin with and changes over seamlessly to be a medium sized symmetrical shawl and then a larger asymmetrical shawl--3 triangles/versions in one.
The first triangle is knit using strategically placed increases and decreases at both ends and then the other two triangles are added at the bottom using the short-row technique. The lace pattern uses only knit sts. and the entire shawl is knit only in garter on the bias.
Fingering weight yarns are ideal for these projects. The asymmetric version can be knit using variegated yarn or self-striping yarn for the lace portions and a matching solid color for the garter portions. For the triangles at the bottom, the variegated or self-striping yarn used for the lace portions in the asymmetric version work best.
Yarn total for the three triangles
Asymmetric Triangle: Used 62 gms of MC--lace bands and 98 gms of CC solid color-- garter bands -- approx. 525 yds.total
Symmetric Triangle: Used approx. additional 36 gms of MC--approx. 610 yds. total
Asymmetric Triangle: Used remaining MC with 8 gms left over--approx. 725 yds. total
