Clement Bell
Christmas Eve, my favorite day of the year. Among my favorite poems is “A Visit from St Nicholas” (or “Twas the Night Before Christmas”) written by Clement Clarke Moore.
St Clement is also the patron saint of sailors and anyone who knows me knows how much I love the ocean, thus the bell was named.
This project is worked in rounds from the top down.
Gauge is not important. The finished dimensions for my bell are 5½ inches (14cm) high/ 61/3 inches (16cm) diameter at base.
I used 11g of Scheepjes Sweet Treat so you’d get two bells out of one 25g ball. You will also need a small craft bell.
For blocking you’ll need a suitable item to stretch your bell over (I used an upside down glass covered with wax paper). I put wax paper over my blocking mat too to stop the bell sticking after i’d pinned it out.
I used a mix of Elmer’s All Purpose Glue and water (ratio 80/ 20) and also sprinkled a little glitter on after pinning it out.
Many thanks to my lovely mate Theresa for tech editing what i’d written so what was going on in my head makes sense to everyone else! xx
As its so light it will hang on the tree nicely. I think it would make a pretty table centerpiece too, and certainly a lovely heirloom gift.
