A popular character in fantasy literature, the first gnome was introduced in the 16th century by Paracelsus, a Swiss German botanist, philosopher, astrologer, alchemist, and an influential medical scientist in early modern Europe.
Knit up your collection of adorable Colorwork Gnomes today. Finished gnome 5” x 2.5” in sport weight yarn.
Yarn: Sport Weight is my yarn of choice but the pattern can use fingering, DK or worsted and the appropriate size need.
Needles: 4 Double Pointed Needles:
- Fingering & Sport: US 1 (2.25mm)
- DK & Worsted: US 4 (3.5mm)
Stuffing
Scraps of yarn for eyes and beard and/or braids
Felting Needle and Roving for Beard
Tapestry and/or embroidery needle
Gauge: Sport Weight 7 sts and 9 rows = 1” in stockinette
