Country House table runner
NOTES:
Any worsted weight yarn will work for this pattern, however, be mindful that not all WW yarn is created equal…some tend to be a little thinner and some a little thicker, which will affect gauge. Nor is each individual crocheter created equal, also potentially affecting gauge. If you find that when making your swatch you use fewer stitches/rows, you may need to go down a hook size; if you use more, go up a hook size. As well, any bulky yarn will work.
Esc are used in place of turning chains to create a straight edge. When counting stitches in each row, these count as a dc.
Ch 1 is counted as stitch. When working into these stitches, work into the stitch as you would a normal stitch (insert your hook under both the front and back loop - that makes the “V” on top of the stitch - and on top of the back loop).
Table runner can be shortened by decreasing the number of pattern repeats or lengthened by increasing the number of pattern repeats. As well, it can be widened by adding equal amounts of double crochets to the beginning and end of each row.
Bold-outlined squares on chart represent ch 1 spaces. Those that are shaded represent how the bulky yarn is threaded.
