COVID Scarf
We kept seeing pictures of the Corona virus, and the COVID-19 pandemic took over our lives. During the same time we made a batch of yarn that just wasn’t what we were hoping for, so we decided to dye the yarn colors that were similar to that Corona virus picture that was going around and create a kit!
The Covid Scarf/Mask kit includes the pattern and the yarn to complete the pattern. Two skeins of DK weight yarn in Dove and 1 skein in Fire create this warm scarf that has a slip-stich pattern which creates pools of color. The scarf is edged with a 3-stitch i-cord, and has optional ear loops to fashion a quick mask. The mask will come in handy during the winter as you go outside in the cold to start your car or walk the dog. Finished dimension for the scarf are approximately 8.5” X 65”.
This pattern, designed by Sharon Britton Miller, would be appropriate for knitter who know the basics, can control the tension of the yarn and are looking advance their skills!! Notions used are Size 7 needles, double point needles (for the i-cord ear loops) and a tapestry needle. Techniques include working with yarn in front and in back, yarn over, slipping stitches and the i-cord.
Have fun making this scarf, commemorating a historical time of hardship, while having a practical knitted item to keep you warm! Make if for yourself or as a gift!
