With Cream, I wanted to take the basic ribbed hat the Ali McGraw wore in the 1970s and give it a more feminine, modern spin. It’s an update on the basic fisherman-wool ribbed/cabled cap.

I picked Plucky’s Primo Sport - which is a delicate, soft merino, and used Milkmaid, a subtle cream shade with hints of yellow as a nod to the traditional fisherman yarn off white that was in my mind when I thought this one up.

And then I played with ribs and lace until I found this - a lovely off-kilter lace pattern that reminds me of ribbing but is much more interesting, and naturally leads into a beautiful crown decrease.
