These socks use the gorgeous colors of Trekking XXL and entrelac to invoke the clan tartans of the Highlanders. Pick a subtle colorway for a tonal effect, or a brighter option to make the entrelac pop.
Drummossie is knitted in pieces; first the toe is worked, then the instep is knitted straight and extra stitches are provisionally cast on at the ankle for the leg
and cuff. After finishing the leg, you go back to the heel and pick up from the provisional cast-on for the heel flap. After turning the heel and picking up gusset stitches, the sole is knit flat and attached to the instep at either side. Once the sole is the correct length, the sole stitches are grafted to the remaining toe stitches.

Techniques involved include entrelac (backward knitting if desired), provisional cast ons, picking up stitches and making stitches.

SIZES
small (medium, large), approximately 8 (8.5, 9) inches foot circumference, and 9 (9.5, 10) inches long or desired length.

GAUGE
36 stitches/48 rows in 4 inches in stockinette.
three rectangles = 2 inches across at widest point.

Check your gauge! Please note that your yarn choice will greatly influence your gauge and the size of your socks. Trekking XXL is quite thin for sock yarn, so if you use a thicker yarn you may need to work a smaller size.
