This pattern was designed for Tour de Sock 2013.
As you will hope fully know, Tour de Sock is an annual sock knitting extravanganza in aid of Medecins Sans Frontieres / Doctors Without Borders, and all proceeds go straight to support this great cause.
This pattern is free to download, but we would very much appreciate if you could make a small donation to MSF, we have suggested $ 4 , but feel free to give what you can or what you feel the pattern is worth. Please go to the official website here and follow the appropriate link for your country.
Additional notes on the pattern:
As this was the last pattern in a speed knitting competition of increasing difficulty, the emphasis has been firmly on the design and unorthodox type of construction, and by necessity certain allowances had to be made. The different triangles that make up the sock are knitted from the outside in, so each triangle results in two ends to be sewn in, and if you decide towards the end that you are not happy with the sock, you will end up with separate lengths of yarn, so do not commit your most treasured skein unless you are sure you will be happy with the result.
The construction will also make a ridge under the sole, which may be an issue for sensitive feet, and the pattern includes options to avoid this.
I have included step-by-step images of the construction, but feel free to ask if you are having difficulties. Also have a look in the original help thread from tour de sock, which can be found here.
