The Fab Little Felted Bag gets its name from a slang version of fabulous, meaning wonderful or marvelous. Since it’s small, the shortened word seemed a good name for this cute bag.

It’s perfect for carrying a few essentials, like keys and cash or a credit card, especially to a fun event like a craft show or party. With a shorter strap, it’s ideal for a child to carry their important things, such as pebbles, shells or other found treasures.

You can make it in your favorite colors or as a stash buster project to use up non-superwash wool you have left from other projects. Make additional bags to match up to your favorite fun outfits, give as gift or any other reason you can think of to make another one. They’re a bit like potato chips: slightly addicting.

Yarns Used:

Noro Yarns Kureyon (100% Wool), 109 yds / 100 m, 1.75 oz / 50 g) per skein.

Cascade Yarns 220® (100% Peruvian Highland Wool), 220 yds / 200 m, 3.5 oz / 100 g) per skein.

The Noro Kureyon color 319 was used for one sample, with multiple colors of Cascade 220® used in both samples.

Yardage:

MC: 60-70 yds / 55-64 m
CC: 60-70 yds / 55-64 m

Yardage estimates include 10% +/- those used in the sample.

Needles:

US 10.5 (6.5 mm) circular, 16” / 41 cm
US 10.5 (6.5 mm) double pointed needles
US 13 (9 mm) double pointed needle (see finishing instructions for use).
I (5.5 mm) crochet hook used in creating button loop.

Gauge:

12 sts x 26 rows = 4” / 10 cm for Garter Stitch (swatch on US 10.5 needles)
14 sts x 24 rnds = 4” / 10 cm for Stockinette Stitch (swatch in round on US 10.5 needles)

The gauge above is pre-felting, but exact gauge is not required as the item will be felted.
