Sunlight is angling through long grass. Take a moment to rest in the landscape. This light is fleeting, but for a few moments it warms and lifts.

Fielden is a wide triangular shawl, with lace echoing tall grasses, and a softly textured body. A relaxing knit which produces a warm and generously large shawl. The Main Colour can be complimented by a speckled, variegated or solid Contrast Colour, allowing good opportunities to display a small quantity of treasured yarn.

Including fully charted as well as written instructions, Fielden has been professionally tech. edited and test knitted.

Materials:
White Gum Wool 4ply Ethical Superfine Merino
(472 meters / 100 grams)

• 2 balls Main Colour
• approx. 30 grams (158m) Contrast Colour

Sample shown in ‘Hawthorn’ (MC) and ‘Sedge’ (CC). Sample used 803 metres/879 yards MC and 85 metres/93 yards CC.

• 4mm/US 6 needles – 100cm/40” circular or size needed to match tension
• Needle 1 size larger for bind off (optional)
• Stitch markers (two spine markers, four lace markers)
• 1 removable stitch marker (optional)
• Embroidery needle for weaving in ends
• Blocking wires & pins (optional)

Tension (blocked firmly, worked flat):
Long Grass lace pattern:
22 stitches and 32 rows = 10cm/4”
garter stitch:
22 stitches and 34 rows = 10cm/4”

Your gauge will affect the size of the finished shawl as well as the amount of yarn you will use. If in doubt, stock up on extra yarn.
