Fionn Mitts
My wrists are often cold, probably because I tend to push up my sleeves when I’m doing anything with my hands- knitting, typing, reading- regardless of weather or room temperature. That’s why I like longer fingerless mitts- they cover your wrists! They’re also great layered with thin gloves for the winter; snow can’t get into your coat cuffs, but you can still use your fingers. Best of both worlds.
These mitts feature an easy-to-work knot stitch pattern on the backs and are knitted in Wonderfluff, a Knit Picks yarn that’s made by blowing alpaca and merino fibers into a mesh tube. High tech stuff. If you don’t have any Wonderfluff, use any yarn that you like that knits to gauge.
Skills needed: Long tail and backwards loop cast ons, knitting in the round, basic increases and decreases, picking up stitches, knitting with double-pointed needles.
Sizes:
Women’s smaller (Women’s larger)
Finished Measurements:
Palm Circumference, unstretched: 7.25 (8) inches/ 18.5 (20) cm
Arm Length to Beginning of Thumb: 7 inches/ 18 cm
Yarn:
Knit Picks Wonderfluff; (70% Alpaca, 23% Nylon, 7% Merino; 142yd/130m per 50 g skein); Color: Finnley Heather, 1 (2) skeins, or about 145-165 yards of worsted, aran, or bulky weight yarn that knits to gauge.
For the smaller size, I used nearly every inch of one skein of Wonderfluff.
