For Fizzing Whizzbees you need one or two yarns with a color gradient. You can also use two or three solid yarns that go well together.
I knitted one model with Noro Flower Bed which has a very fast moving color gradient. I knitted another model with Schoppel Laceball, Schattenspringer. I knitted with two strands at a time to get a very slow moving color gradient. But you can just as well use the Zauberball version with just one strand. The model you see on the cover page was knitted with two colors of Austermann Step 4 Merino. I needed about 1300 yards / 1200 meters in total.
Fizzing Whizzbees is a modular knit but there is no seaming involved. You will join the modules as you go. There are three basic modules: Module A, B, and C. These three form a unit. The length of the shawl will be defined by the number of units you want to knit. The width equals an amount of 196 stitches. You can use any yarn weight you fancy, but bear in mind, that you will have to adjust the weight or the needle size in order to get the desired width.
All instructions are given in written and charted form. You will find ample photo tutorials at the end of the pattern that will help you to manage the techniques. This makes Fizzing Whizzbees a suitable pattern for most knitters.
Happy Knitting,
Ursa Major
