PATTERN INFORMATION
Fun to knit and wear, Flower Sweater has an unusual construction - it starts with hexagon-shaped upper back and front, worked separately, from the centre of the flower motif outwards. When the two pieces are wide enough, they are joined and worked top down and in the round, then raglan sleeves are knitted onto the body - the whole sweater is seamless. Body length can be adjusted - the same pattern can be used to make a dress.

Sizes
4 (6, 8, 10, 12, 14 years)
Finished chest circumference: 66 (69.5, 73, 77, 83, 87) cm / 26 (27.5, 28.75, 30.25, 32.75, 34.25) in. Shown in size 14 years with 8 cm / 3 in of positive ease at chest.
Select size that is 5-8 cm / 2-3 in larger than your child’s chest circumference.

Gauge
(measured after blocking)
• stockinette st: 22 sts and 30 rows = 10 cm / 4 in, with larger needle(s)
• 1x1 rib: 22 sts and 32 rows = 10 cm / 4 in, with smaller needle(s), slightly stretched

Skills needed
Knitting in the round, increases, decreases, picking up sts, crochet chain provisional CO, German short rows.

Materials
Yarn
520 (600, 680, 780, 880, 980) m / 570 (660, 750, 860, 970, 1080) yds of DK wool. For best results use smooth yarn that blocks well, with good stitch definition. Shown in Sublime Extra Fine Merino Wool DK (100% merino, 116 m / 127 yds per 50g ball, col. 342).

Needles and notions
• 4 mm (US size 6) and 3.75 mm (US size 5) circular needles, 60-100 cm / 24-40 in long, for body
• 4 mm (US size 6) and 3.75 mm (US size 5) needles in your preferred style for knitting small circumferences in the rnd, for flower motif and sleeves
• 4 mm (US size 6) spare circular needle
• 5 stitch markers in colour A, 2 stitch markers in colour B, one locking marker
• scrap yarn
• 3.5 mm (US size E) crochet hook, for circular cast on
