“Fly Over” was created to celebrate the 5th Anniversary of Knit City in Vancouver, BC. “Fly Over” is knit from the bottom up and the pattern offers four different choices:

1) Knit one triangle using fingering yarn for a small triangular shawlette
2) Knit one triangle using worsted yarn (sample shown here with 3 skeins of Julie Asselin Leizu Worsted, colorway Ancient Gold)
3) Knit the triangle twice using fingering yarn for a trapeze stole (grafted at the top)
4) Knit the triangle twice using fingering yarn for a poncho (grafted at each end at the top leaving a hole in the middle, sample shown here with 2 skeins of Julie Asselin Fino, colorway Anniversary)

Inspired by the beautiful West Coast scenery, you will travel through fields, water’s edge and into the forest to finally reach the mountains. Pattern offered in English and French.

Yarn requirements:

Shawlette: approximately 370 metres/400 yards of fingering weight

Larger shawl: approximately 640 metres/700 yards of worsted weight

Stole and poncho: approximately 740 metres/800 yards of fingering weight

One 4 mm/US 6 circular needle for the fingering weight shawlette

Two 4 mm/US 6 circular needle for the fingering weight stole or poncho

One 5.5 mm/US 9 circular needle for the worsted weight shawl

Tapestry needle, 2 stitch markers, waste yarn or stitch holders

Sizes:

Fingering weight shawlette and poncho: 38”/77 cm wide x 28”/71 cm deep

Fingering weight stole: 38”/77 cm wide x 56”/142 cm long

Worsted weight shawl: 55”/140 cm wide x 37”/94 cm deep

Gauge:

20 sts and 34 rows = 10 cm or 4” in Stockinette Stitch with fingering yarn on 4 mm/US 6 needle (after blocking)

14 sts and 24 rows = 10 cm or 4” in Stockinette Stitch with Worsted yarn on 5.5 mm/US 9 needle (after blocking)
