This crescent-shaped scarf was specifically designed for those lovely skeins of hand-dyed sock yarn we all find irresistible. I have suggested four yarns, but any 100g hank of fingering weight yarn can be substituted.

After blocking, the sample scarf (which was knit from 2 hanks of ShibuiKnits Sock) measured approximately 16” down the center line and 37” across the wingspan (measured at the widest point). Your finished scarf may block out larger if you choose a loosely plied yarn or a fiber with little crimp. It is also possible to upsize or downsize the scarf by working more or fewer repeats of the body pattern.

The scarf is worked from the nape of the neck down to the bottom edge and the crescent shape sits securely on your shoulders. The all-over eyelet pattern is easily memorized. Because every row is knit, the right and the wrong sides are equally attractive. The instructions are presented in both written and charted form. Although I recommend using the written instructions, large charts are included on the last page of the pattern. You may not find it necessary to print that page.

The crochet edging is an easy-to-work chain stitch. But you could also substitute a knitted picot bind off.
