Frozen Princess Poncho
Last Halloween, at least half of the little girls in my neighborhood were dressed as Elsa or Anna from the Frozen movie. They were adorable, prancing up and down the sidewalks in their sparkly dresses. Unfortunately, we live in a colder climate, where Halloweens tend to be chilly, if not downright snowy, so the top half of their costumes were covered by jackets. If only the little girls had Frozen Princess Ponchos to keep them warm… :)
With just enough fluff to be whimsical, and just enough sparkle to catch the light without being gaudy, this Poncho knits up in a jiffy. The snowflakes are a simple Fair Isle design, and the sparkle is achieved through holding a strand of superfine sequin thread (“Luna” by Trendsetter Yarns has just the right shade of Turquoise) along with the main color worsted weight yarn.
Not a Frozen fan? Knit this in any other color for a delightful winter poncho to wear over that fancy Christmas dress, or with jeans to glam up a school outfit.
The smallest size takes just 1 skein of each color in Lamb’s Pride, Luna, and Pipsqueak. The two larger sizes take 2 skeins of the main color Lamb’s Pride and Pipsqueak, and just 1 of the contrast color and Luna.
The first five knitters to link their finished ponchos to this pattern will receive a free pattern of their choice from my store!
