Gavriella Sweater

This sweater is named after my dear friend and yarn dyer!
The Gavriella Sweater is a cropped sweater that is light and intended for layering. It has short sleeves and plays with different yarn weights to give interest both visually and while knitting it up.
This sweater is intended to fit effortlessly; as though you don’t even feel it on.I wanted this yoke sweater to be light in both weight and look, and achieved this by alternating between worsted and fingering weight yarn. This sweater’s cropped and loose fit allows it to be perfect for layering.
Pattern Description:
Gavriella is worked from the top down with basic yoke construction. To begin the sweater, you cast on for the neck, work the collar ribbing, and then shape the back of the neck using short rows with standard increases. To add interest, I have switched between worsted and fingering weight yarn, which creates a striping effect and fun texture difference in the sweater.
Gavriella is worked in the round with an all-over garter stitch pattern. Once yoke depth and width is achieved, you will separate for the sleeves and continue to work in the round for the body. After the body is completed, the sleeves are picked up and worked. The final step is to sew the underarm gap together. This sweater was designed to have a cropped fit for easy layering, but can be easily adjusted to longer lengths.
Difficulty Level: Intermediate
Skills Needed: knowledge of top down sweater construction, short rows, basic increases and decreases, working lace in garter drop stitch, changing between different weights of yarn, and duplicate stitch.
