Glenmore
Glenmore is an easy top-down sweater with an oversized fit. The shoulders are worked in one piece and then divided for front and back. The upper front and back are each worked flat and then joined in the round at the underarm. The body is worked in the round, and directions are given for both cropped and regular lengths. Stitches for the sleeves are picked up around the armhole and the sleeves are worked top down in the round. The drop shoulder construction means that there is no sleeve cap shaping to worry about. The pattern is worked in a deceptively simple knit purl pattern – if you can knit ribbing you can knit this.
Yarn
Cyrano is listed as an Aran weight yarn by the manufacturer but is closer to many chunky weights. Consider both heavy aran and chunky yarns when substituting and compare the metres per gram.

Choosing a size
The modified drop shoulder construction requires significant positive ease. Choose a size with between 8 and 14” of positive ease at the chest.
Needles
US 9 / 5.5mm 32” / 80cm circular needle.
US 10½ / 6.5mm 32” / 80cm circular needle.
When working the body, for larger sizes, use a 40” / 100cm circular needle or larger, depending on how squished you like your stitches to be on the needle. We found that a needle approximately 55% shorter than the body circumference was the minimum workable length.
US 9 / 5.5mm dpns or circular(s) for your preferred method of knitting small circumferences in the rnd.
US 10½ / 6.5mm dpns or circular(s) for your preferred method of knitting small circumferences in the rnd.
US 9 / 5.5mm 16” / 40cm circular needle.
FAQ Low vision: The main text is 24pt and all text is black on a white background. There is some smaller text on the schematic illustration and sizing tables.
Screen readers: the low vision version is tagged to work with screen reading software and have been tested. Images have alt text. Some information is presented in tables, these are read in the correct order but may be confusing to navigate. Abbreviations are used in the directions, they are defined but may be read aloud oddly. Numbers for multiple sizes are presented as lists of numbers within the text and may be difficult to keep track of when using a screen reader. If this is something you use we’d love your feedback on how we could improve the pattern formatting for screen readers.
