Gloamin-tide MKAL
Summer is for staying outside until late into the evening, even as the light fades, a chill descends and you need something cosy around your shoulders. Gloamin-Tide was originally designed as a mystery knit along, and is now available as a stand alone pattern, perfect if you prefer to know what you’re knitting.
This easy-going shawl is perfectly suited to take along wherever your summer adventures lead you, with plenty of relaxing garter stitch interspersed with simple, rhythmic stitch patterns. The fun, unusual construction begins with the points, which are each shaped differently and worked into the centre. The centre square is knit in the round, joining the two end pieces and decreasing at 4 points down to just a few stitches. That means there’s no binding off to worry about. We’ve combined the 6 clues of the mystery knit along into one pdf pattern but kept it broken down into clues as they organise the knitting into nicely manageable chunks.
Gloamin-Tide uses three skeins, for a shawl that’s large enough to really wrap up in, and works equally well in a subtle fade set or higher contrast combinations — check out the 600+ projects on Ravelry if you need some colour inspiration. Gloamin-Tide is perfect for a glowing, hand dyed single like Rustic Fingering from Neighborhood Fiber Co. or The Uncommon Thread Everyday Singles, they work perfectly together so don’t limit yourself to the colours available in one range. The slipped stitch patterns beautifully blend the colours together and might introduce you to some fun new skills.
Yarn
3 100g skeins of fingering / 4ply weight yarn with good drape and approx 366m (400yds) per skein. Subtle gradients and light speckling are ideal. Exact gauge isn’t crucial but if your gauge is looser than specified you might need more yarn.
