Gowen Shawl
This pattern can also be purchased at September Knits
As soon as I held this yarn in my hands, I was immediately inspired to cast on a lightweight shawl. The perfect burnt red hue of this yarn transported me to an ocean town with brick buildings, ceramic tile streets with long pathways to explore. These skeins were asking to be a lightweight shawl with a relaxed drape and pretty lace detail. This shawl, previously named Rookwood, was originally published in Pompom Magazine Issue 29.
Pattern Notes:
Gowen is worked flat in rows but a circular needle is recommended to accommodate the high stitch count. Gowen features alternating sections of garter stitch and sea foam lace. It is worked sideways beginning at one corner and increasing on every WS row to create a triangular shape.
The Gowen shawl is worked in sections. Keep an even and not too tight tension on the first and last sts of every row. This will give your shawl stretch and more movement along the wingspan.
