Greatest Hits
Greatest Hits is a shawl that’s like your favourite record that you want to play over and over again. It features some of my favourite shawl elements:
-an asymmetrical shape that’s easy to wear,
-bias fabric that drapes beautifully,
-an I-cord edge which gives a smooth finish,
-balanced fabrics that lay flat,
-a mix of fingering weight and mohair yarns,
-and fun finishing touches.
Vol. 1 features an extended garter fabric and Vol. 2 uses a welted fabric. Either option looks great in a combination of speckles and solids. Make yours an“EP” version by working extra repeats if you have additional yarn.
Vol. 1 features La Bien Aimée Merino Singles in “Fiori” with Ito Sensai mohair in “Chili Pepper”. Vol. 2 features Holst Garn Noble in “Linen” with Riverside Studio Kidsilk in “Pebble”.
You’ll need 665 y/610 m of your main fingering weight yarn, and only 145 y/132 m of a mohair yarn for the stripes. This yarn quantity includes enough for three tassels for the points, or add a small amount of another fingering weight yarn for mini-tassels.
In homage to Loop, the delightful London, UK shop where the yarns for Vol. 1 were purchased while on holiday, I used their completely adorable mini-tassels as trim. A fantastic tutorial can be found here: https://www.loopknitlounge.com/tutorials/tiny-tassels-tut...
A note about these photos: I try to employ capable and talented photographers to take lively, clear photos of my samples. This design was completed just as the COVID-19 lockdowns began in my part of the world, and when interaction outside our household was not permitted. I may update them at some point when whim and opportunity provide, but for now they remain as a small indicator of the context we all experienced.
