Created in next-to-skin soft, fingering-weight yarn, Grille’s neckwarmer variation drapes gently around the neck while the cowl may be looped luxuriously or left as a long, dramatic accessory. Knit in strongly contrasting colours, Grille is bold and striking; colours with less contrast yield a more nuanced result.

While appearing complex, Grille is worked with a single colour per round for a pleasant knitting experience. Written and charted instructions are provided. Starting with a provisional cast-on and knit in the round, Grille’s horizontal ridges ground the design while rising, vertical, slipped-stitch bars create movement and rhythm. A neat Icelandic bind off finishes Grille’s top and bottom edges.
