Ribs and welts collide to create striking angles at each end of this fun yet classic scarf. The angles may be hard but the knitting is easy, using only knit and purl stitches, plus strategically placed increases and decreases to maintain an even width. The scarf is fully reversible with an optional fringe.

This knitting pattern includes both a chart and written instructions.

Substitution Notes
The specified yarn is a bulky weight, knitting up at 3 to 3.75 sts per inch (2.5 cm) on 6 to 8 mm (US 10-11) needles. Other gauges may be substituted and they’ll affect the overall width of the scarf. It can easily be made as long or short as you like. A smooth yarn will show the rib and welt pattern best. Choose a yarn that feels nice against the skin. Fibre content is not critical.

Techniques
Increase (kfb) / decrease (p2tog), working simple stitch pattern from chart or written instructions, slipped stitch selvedge, fringe.
