For the last couple of years, I’ve been attempting to be more eco-concious. It has actually been more challenging than I than I expected, due to the higher cost of organic produce, the ever-increasing use of plastic packaging materials, and the availability of grass-fed meats. I do put as much as possible in the recycle bin, and I use only glass containers in the microwave. I don’t enjoy cooking, though, which adds to the challenge of reducing my use of prepackaged foods. But I can knit! So here is my Preservation collection ~ three shawls designed as a tribute to my efforts to go green ~ Hayfield, Restated, and Sustain.
Hayfield
This design is a right triangle shawl, knitted sideways from the right tip. It features a grassy slip-stitch textured pattern, laid out in panels along the length of the shawl. I have provided charts as well as the full written instructions, including an optional stitch pattern swatch section. Use any yarn weight up to aran, adjusting your yarn requirements accordingly.
Materials used for sample (weighs 163g):
Knit Picks Hawthorne Tonal Hand Paint
2 skeins Springfield
a row counter is very helpful for this pattern
Acknowledgements:
The shawl includes elements of a stitch pattern found in the Barbara Walker Treasuries.
Pattern is written in American terminology.
