Recommended materials:

Solid color version:

• Scheepjes Whirlette (60% Cotton x 40% Acrylic, Fingering/ 4 ply weight, 100g/ 455m/ 497.6yds)

• Bag without bottom: Yarn 1 (dark): 2 skeins/ 159g in 851 Liquorice (including 114g for mosaic part, 10g for upper edge backing, 35g for handles) Yarn2 (light): 2 skeins/ 106g in 860 Ice

• Bag with bottom: Yarn 1 (dark): 2 skeins/ 184g in 851 Liquorice (including 25g for bottom, 114g for mosaic part, 10g for upper edge backing, 35g for handles) Yarn2 (light): 2 skeins/ 106g in 860 Ice

• Pillow: Yarn 1 (dark): 2 skeins/ 114g in 851 Liquorice Yarn2 (light): 2 skeins/ 106g in 860 Ice

Gradient color version:

• Scheepjes Whirl:

• Bag with/ without a bottom, pillow: 1 cake/ 215-225g in 766/ Mid Morning Mocha’roo or other color cake that divides at about 50/50 ratio into 2 contrast color skeins

• Scheepjes Whirlette:

• Bag with/ without a bottom, pillow: 1 skein/ 75g in 863/ Chocolate or matching Whirl dark end color

How to use Whirl and Whirlette together:

• Using kitchen scale, divide Whirl into 2 parts: approximately 93g dark and 126g light

• Yarn2: use light part of Whirl as Yarn2 starting from inside (lighter) end

• Yarn1: start with 25g of Whirlette 863/ Chocolate that matches Whirl dark end to make a bottom (optional), use 25g (24 rounds) for mosaic part, switch to Whirl from darker (matching) end and continue with Whirl to the end of mosaic part (rem Whirlette will be used for upper edge backing and handles)

• Make upper edge backing and handles with Whirlette

Additional materials for all versions:

• 2.5mm crochet hook, tapestry needle. Prototype was made with Clover Amour hook Bag lining and supplies:
• About 45cm/ 17 ¾’’ of pre-quilted fabric (finish and measure the bag first, add 6cm/ 2 3/8’’ to the length; add 4cm/ 1 ½’’ if making a bag bottom)
• Optional: 5cm x 79cm/ 2’’ x 31 1/8’’ piece of buckram (very stiff backing for hats and bags) to stiffen upper edge
• Matching sewing thread
• Sewing machine
• Magnetic clasp Pillow:
• 38cm/ 15’’ invisible zipper
• 38-40cm/ 15-15 ¾’’ pillow insert
