Heavens Above
Now, this is what I call a “WOW” shawl. It’s big, drapes beautifully and has just a smattering of beads in the stockinette crescent shaping above the absolutely gorgeous lace (beads are optional: if you don’t want beads, just knit the stitch). The lace is deep (lace is original design) and it features a picot cast on at the bottom of the shawl (picot cast on is optional). There is a lace design at the neck edge also, just to add more detail! SO PRETTY! SO FEMININE!
This absolutely heavenly shawl has an ethereal quality, hence the name Heavens Above. The pattern chart is big and easy to read. There are complete instructions for working from the chart. The charted rows are also written out for those who prefer not working from a chart. Also included are complete directions for the easy short row shaping and for hooking on the beads.
You only need 47 size 6/0 beads (only used above the deep lace in the crescent shaping). This dreamy shawl is knitted on size US 7/4.5mm 32” circular needles. This adds more drape and gauziness to the shawl. (I normally use a size US 6/4mm.) This shawl is a little more complicated than some of my more recent shawl patterns. But it is worth the bit of extra effort!
This would make an excellent gift for a bride, birthday, Mothers Day or for any special occasion.
