Dragons appear in so many stories, from all over the world, and they have always fascinated me. They are magical, can spit fire, can fly, and depending on the lore, they have many other fascinating abilities. So, I decided to create a few designs inspired by them.

Helios Dragon is the third pattern in a series of five dragon inspired shawls and scarves, which you can buy as an eBook for a reduced price.

This cowl is knit in the round, so there will be minimal purling. After the main lace part, it ends in a flattering ruffle. The lace is a 16 stitch repeat over 10 rows. There are no increases in the lace pattern, making this suitable for intermediate lace knitters.

Special thanks to Gannet Designs who designed the stitch pattern for the dragon-scale lace.

Gauge:
22 sts and 38 rows = 10 cm/4” in garter stitch
Gauge is not crucial here, but it might affect the size of your finished cowl and how much yarn you need.

Yarn:
I knit the sample with exactly one ball of Schachenmayr Tahiti, which has 280 m/306 yds - but my testers needed up to 290 m/317 yds of fingering weight.
