Hesti Hat
Errata, the version in Shetland Wool Adventures Journal Volume 1: On the crown round 1 of Chart C should be knit in Yarn C (FC47) not E and on row 8 stitch 6 should be knit in shade D (121), not A.
Originally featured in Shetland Wool Adventures Journal Volume 1, this hat is inspired by traditional Fair Isle motifs and colours, I used bands of peerie patterns combined with shades you see in early Fair Isle knitting but just that bit different (rusty orange instead of madder red, denim blue in place of indigo etc) which makes it feel like a vintage piece of knitwear. Its knit in the round with corrugated ribbing and a 7 point star on the crown. Colourway 1 is my original vintage-inspired colours and for colourway 2 I tried to take this inspiration even further to create an effect which looks even older, as if the hat has been sun-bleached over years of use.
